Qarateren lake is located in Dawqara village, Takhtakopir district, the North-East part Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan. About 140 km away from Nukus. The lake is 3 km wide and more than 15 km long, beside Borshitaw mountain (Beltaw hill – 80 – 100 m). The deepest point of the lake is 40 m. Visitors like the lake cause of the sweet water in it. There is artesian groundwater on the beach. The water is 37-40 degrees. Nowadays, local people visit the lake to swim in the hot season (may-September). About 100 visitors go there every day and more than 250 every weekend.
